Youtube suspends Fretkillr

Sad news, Few days ago all of a sudden YouTube have suspended Fretkillr’s account and removed all his videos after years of posting videos.

Who is Fretkillr?

For those who doesn’t know him, He’s an anonymous old folk who used to post videos of himself playing guitar on YouTube without showing his face. He’s such a tsunami wave of endless talent. He plays guitar, ukulele and harmonica like a PRO, He has a great warm voice too. He’s one of world’s best.

He covers lots of songs making them better than the original by adding his magical touches, And sometimes he just improvises music and post it, He’s a real Fret Killer.

There are a lot of rumors about him on the internet; Some n00bs say that Fretkillr is only playing guitar and someone else is doing the voice-over; claiming that the player has white hands and the voice sounds like a black man’s voice (with noise removed and reverb effect applied).
Well, That’s not true! If they just took the time to look at more of his videos they would have noticed that he tunes his voice very well and maybe they would have got a chance to see the mic and the wires and maybe his chin moving as he sings.

I’ve picked these 2 videos randomly for you to see, there used to be tens of other awesome videos, around 130 videos.
Note: Videos are not in high quality since those videos aren’t the original but re-uploaded by his fans.

This is his cover of Bob Dylan’s song Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right…

Here’s another one, Charlie Daniels’ Long Haired Country Boy
In this video he plays guitar, harmonica and sings simultaneously…

Fretkillr’s real identity?

This guy was and still is one of my obsessions, I used to listen to his music daily and sometimes for hours. I even converted some of his videos to mp3 so I can listen to them when I’m on the road or something.

So, One day I decided to take the time to do some good searching and deep digging until I figured out who fretkillr really is. However, I don’t think it would be cool if I mentioned his name since it is his desire to remain anonymous.
But here’s a hint: He’s a well-known player and his parent used to be a musician too.

What Fretkillr says about himself?

Here’s a quote of his bio and description that he had in his Youtube channel…

Welcome to my channel. I post my clips to provide enjoyment to anyone who loves to play or listen to the guitar. My schedule makes it impossible for me to personally reply to messages or questions. I’ve contracted an intermediary to maintain my channel and send out thank you replies in response to all the positive messages I receive. Thanks for tuning in. – Fret Killer

I’m a self-taught musician who has learned to play primarily by listening to recordings and through self-discovery. My love of folk, blues, bluegrass, country, rock, ragtime, and jazz has been the catalyst for teaching myself to be a proficient flatpicker and fingerpicker. My youtube videos employ a close-up view of my performances to maintain anonymity. They are provided solely for entertainment. My clips are not meant as guitar lessons. I do not use or have music or tabs. I can’t respond to questions about guitar models and tunings. I hope you enjoy my clips and your positive comments are certainly appreciated.

Fretkillr had thousands of subscribers, Hundreds of videos and a HUGE fan base. He could have signed up for YouTube Partner program to gain money from displaying ads on his videos, But he didn’t. Everything was absolutely free just for enjoyment. He never asked anyone to subscribe to his channel or like/rate his videos too.

Why did YouTube disable or suspend his account?

Well, The reason behind his account suspension is still unknown. I hope youtube will just find a solution or something and enable his account back again.

Let me know what you think of Fret Killer and his music?
And why do you think Fretkillr’s account got suspended?
